Each fall KAAN hosts a statewide conference. The conference provides an opportunity for members to convene in one location to collaborate, learn and share information with members of the association.

A mixer Thursday evening, September 7, will be held in the new Experiential Engineering Building on the WSU Innovation Campus. Appetizers will be provided; cash bar; 6:00-7:30 p.m. [campus map]

Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences

Fleming-Randle is the college liaison for student services planning and implementation, encompassing undergraduate recruitment activity, the enrollment process, and matriculation to degree completion.

Her research and academic interests include mental health, substance abuse, child and youth programs, educational leadership, and diversity.

Registration for the annual KAAN conference includes one year of membership dues and admission to this year’s conference, including lunch.

After submitting your conference registration, you will receive a confirmation email. This email contains a link for submitting payment online by someone other than the registrant. Please forward your confirmation email to the appropriate person to provide payment.

Location and Parking

Wichita State University sits on a hill at the intersection of 21st Street North and Hillside Avenue in Wichita, Kansas. KAAN 2017 will be held in the Rhatigan Student Center.

Lot 24 next to 17 Street has been reserved for the event. See campus parking map (PDF).

All conference activities are in the Rhatigan Student Center, Ballroom on the third floor and conference rooms on the second floor. There is an entrance on the south side of the building which leads directly to the elevator. Signage and volunteers directing people will be provided by WSU.

Lodging

Hotel accommodations for KAAN 2017 attendees are available at Courtyard by Marriott Wichita East. Nightly rates are $94.00 for either a double queen or king. Participants should mention the KAAN Conference to obtain the discounted rate. 316-636-4600 [map]


Steering Committee Openings
At this year’s annual conference the following positions will be up for election:

  • Vice Chair
  • Membership Coordinator
  • Secretary

All current members of KAAN are eligible to run for office. Officers will be elected at the annual meeting by a majority vote of members present.

Note: Each steering committee member may serve no more than two elected consecutive terms in any capacity. No member may hold more than one seat on the steering committee at one time.

If you are interested in running for one of these positions, please complete the KAAN Steering Committee Nominations Form prior to August 1. Questions regarding leadership opportunities within KAAN should be directed to the past chair who serves as chair of the nominations and elections committee.


Professional Development
KAAN professional development awards provide current KAAN members the opportunity to seek funding to grow and expand as professionals. Review the guidelines regarding submitting an application for, and receiving, a professional development award.
